A to Z Blogging Challenge: P is for Pep Talks

Welcome back to my A to Z of Nanowrimo. Today I'm going to talk about something that's really important and can't be underestimated during the Nanowrimo challenge. I'm going to allocate P for Pep Talks.

a to z blogging challenge 2019

We all need them. Sometimes, we just need them to know that we're on the right track. Sometimes we need them to help us keep going and maintain momentum. And then sometimes, we need to be reminded why we are undertaking such a challenge in the first place. They can come from anywhere. You might be lucky enough to have a family who will give you a pep talk. Maybe you have friends who will support you by giving you a pep talk. Or perhaps you're like me and you rely on the official pep talks from professional writers who are contributing their words of wisdom and experience to all of us in a group email.

I can't count the number of times that I've read a pep talk sent to me via email (because I subscribe) and I end up getting so excited about my novel that I can't wait to get home and get back into it. They really do make a difference.

Lately, I've noticed that there aren't so many pep talks from professional writers. I remember a time when I used to regularly recognise the names that were dropping into my inbox and they were regular throughout the month of November. Last year I can count on one hand the number of pep talks I ended up getting and I don't think I recognised any of the names. This disappointed me. Maybe I just wasn't getting all the notifications or they weren't reaching my inbox. I don't know. If I have one request to make of the next Nanowrimo challenge, it's that there are more pep talks from writers that are household names. Not easy to get them to contribute, I know, but they could change everything for a lot of writers.

Have you ever been particularly moved by a Nanowrimo pep talk?

Tomorrow I am writing about Q for Quickies, which is quite appropriate since that's how I am writing most of these blog posts now. Over on Rock Paper Spirit, I am writing about P for Prosperity.
